From initial photometry to application analysis, we walk through what it takes to create the perfect uplight for semi-indirect luminaires and how to achieve the desired distribution.

A basic understanding of intensity distribution curves and lighting layouts is recommended if attending this session.

Learning Objectives

  1. Be able to identify at a glance a good uplight distribution from a bad one
  2. Understand the role of optics in achieving the desired distribution: what to look for and how to achieve
  3. Be able to specify the type of LED which assures good flux coupling and ideal distribution
  4. Be able to ask for certain requirements from manufacturers in the spec writing process to assure wider spacing criteria and, subsequently, lower power density requirements
