Market penetration for lighting controls has been hampered by concerns about system complexity, reliability and security of wireless technology, and costs of installing wireless nodes or control wiring. Power Line Control (PLC) technology transmits digital control signals over existing supply wiring facilitating a wide array of lighting control capabilities without the need for installing additional wiring cables or introducing wireless protocols, eliminating both security risks and the reliability issues associated with pairing and transmitting wireless signals over the air through walls and over distances. This lecture will explain the possibilities and the advantages of using PLC technology for lighting control. Some working knowledge of power line controls is advised.
- Participants will understand the limitations of various lighting control technologies.
- Participants will understand the mechanics of how advanced PLC works.
- Participants will understand the problems that advanced PLC solves.
- Participants will understand the advantages of using this technology to expand the adoption of lighting control applications.
